The cult game Dauntless will join the Epic Games Store and convert player accounts into Epic accounts. Dauntless will release for free on the Epic Games Store and apply the same system as Fortnite. Beta players will have to download the store client before launching Dauntless.
Developer Phoenix Labs has also posted evacuation instructions to Epic. No date yet, but in the weeks approaching the switch, Phoenix Labs will initiate the account migration. At that point, you’ll have to use the Epic Games Store. Phoenix Labs claims to only move accounts agreed by gamers, not entire accounts.
However, Phoenix Labs recommends that you create an Epic account now. Because there is no guarantee you will avoid duplicate account names. If Epic users have pre-registered, you will have to choose a new name. House cleaning will help create conditions for players to play crossplay. Phoenix Labs wants Dauntless players. It’s like Fortnite players, having access to their accounts on a wide range of platforms and titles.
Phoenix Labs said that when they started building Dauntless more than four years ago, they had a vision. No matter where you are in the world or what platform you are playing on, you can play with your friends. Epic Games Store has made that possible by launching a cross-playable game on PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, mobile, and Nintendo Switch. This is indeed an interesting collaboration.
